Legendary Boston Marathon Runner Dick Hoyt Has Passed Away At Age 80



Holland, Massachusetts native Dick Hoyt, who was famous for pushing his son Rick Hoyt in numerous Boston Marathon’s has sadly passed away at age 80. The Hoyts have competed together in various athletic events, including marathons and Ironman Triathlons. Rick has cerebral palsy. During competition, Dick pulled Rick in a special boat as they swim, carries him in a special seat in the front of a bicycle, and pushed him in a special wheelchair as they ran. Team Hoyt were recipients of ESPN’s Jimmy V Award. The pair completed 32 Boston marathons as a team.

Dick Hoyt is the 2nd Massachusetts sports legend to pass away in less than a week, as boxing legend Marvin Hagler passed away a few days ago.
