When we look back at the Patriots dynasty, there is one man whose accomplishments have been clearly been underrated. Richard Seymour was a dominant force on the Defensive Line for the Patriots first 3 Super Bowl victories, but his popularity among Patriots fans is not in the same league as other Patriots defense legends of the past 20 years like Tedy Bruschi, Ty Law, Willie McGinest or Rodney Harrison.
Seymour was drafted by the Patriots in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft. Seymour was also named to five straight Pro Bowls with the Patriots (2002-06) and earned three straight first-team All-Pro honors (2003-05). During his career he was considered one of the best, defensive lineman in the NFL. The Patriots traded Seymour, who was entering the final year of his contract, to the Oakland Raiders for a first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. They eventually drafted another key piece of the dynasty with the pick which they used on Offensive tackle Nate Solder.
