A local cultural icon has reportedly passed away. Anthony Martignetti rose to fame in households across New England with Prince spaghetti commercials that are still memorable to this day. When Anthony was 12 years old, he was featured in the commercial. The ad showed him running through the streets of Boston’s North End to get home for dinner on Wednesday, “Prince Spaghetti day,” while his mother called his name from a window of an apartment building.
Anthony was consistently reminded of the famous commercial which originated in 1969.
“My friends always brought it up. I still don’t think it’s that big a deal,” he said.
His brother announced early Monday morning on Facebook that Martignetti had died suddenly in his sleep. Martignetti was 63.
